ATTN: Red deer, Sika and Elk Owners!

April 20, 2016

To all EWA members who own one or more of the listed CWD susceptible exotic species in Texas:

On Monday May 2, 2016 Texas Animal Health Commissioner, Tommy Oates and EWA Executive Director, Charly Seale will hold a general CWD information meeting beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the Exotic Wildlife Association office at 105 Henderson Branch Rd W, Ingram, Texas.  This will be a general information meeting concerning the CWD rules being proposed by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department  for whitetail deer and mule deer.  These newly proposed rules, if adopted by the TPWD Commission, will certainly have a profound effect on the way elk, red deer and sika are to be regulated  in the future.  We would like for as many of these species owners to be in attendance as possible.  A plan for this industry needs to be made and Commissioner Oates would like to hear from those he represents on the TAHC commission.

A subsequent meeting will be held in Huntsville, Texas on May 4, 2016 at the Huntsville Livestock Sale Barn beginning at 1:00 P.M., if you miss the meeting in Ingram or live in East Texas.  Representatives from the Texas Animal Health Commission will also be in attendance to answer any questions that attendees may have and to obtain feedback from our industry on how to best address future regulations for the elk, red deer, and sika industries.

Please RSVP to the EWA office at 830-367-7761 or Commissioner Tommy Oates at 936-661-0653 if you can make either of the meetings.
